I like to offer a safe, calm and supportive space to people who are facing difficulty in their lives. Some clients come for therapy because they feel confused, stuck or disappointed in relationships. Others want to talk about a disturbing loss or new circumstances. An unfamiliar role or a new goal may bring challenges. Sometimes, people come to see me suffering from a lack of meaning or enjoyment in their lives.
We can discuss what you’re going through, begin to make sense of things, and find a way forward in your life. Some emotional difficulties and challenging situations are too much for one person to cope with by themselves. The two of us talking together can help you manage how you feel, draw on your creativity, and explore the different choices you have. Our time together is confidential, and you can take things at your own pace.

I’ve been working as a psychotherapist since 2000. After a number of years employed in private sector and NHS therapy services, I’m now in full-time private practice. I’m a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist registered with the UKCP and a Senior Accredited Counsellor with the BACP. I have a clear Enhanced Criminal Record Check from The Disclosure and Barring Service.
I can help with a variety of personal issues and relationship difficulties. I’ve worked with people who don’t yet know what the matter is – or who feel like everything has gone wrong. My particular interest is in people who are facing a change in their identity – perhaps a loss, a transition or a new role in life. I also specialise in workplace issues and the emotional challenges of professional life.
You’re welcome to contact me at christian@christianmurphy.com.
My psychotherapy practice is based in Brixton, London, SW2. I offer weekly or twice-weekly in-person sessions. Some people’s sessions are open-ended, others attend until a specific issue has been resolved. I have a particular interest in workplace issues and offer executive coaching. I am a director and co-founder of Respia – a coaching consultancy.
My fee is £90 per 50-minute session. I’m a registered provider with most major insurers, including Aviva, AXA Health, Allianz Care, Bupa, Cigna Global, General & Medical, Healix, Vitality and WPA. If your policy covers psychotherapy sessions, I’d be happy to discuss the referral process when we first speak and contact your insurer to confirm the details of your referral.
