I like to offer a safe, calm and supportive space to people who are facing difficulty in their lives. Some clients come for therapy because they feel confused, stuck or disappointed in relationships. Others want to talk about a disturbing loss or new circumstances. An unfamiliar role or a new goal may bring challenges. Sometimes, people come to see me suffering from a lack of meaning or enjoyment in their lives.
We can discuss what you’re going through, begin to make sense of things, and find a way forward in your life. Some emotional difficulties and challenging situations are too much for one person to cope with by themselves. The two of us talking together can help you manage how you feel, draw on your creativity, and explore the different choices you have. Our time together is confidential, and you can take things at your own pace.
I’ve been practising psychotherapy in Brixton since 1999. After a number of years employed in private sector and NHS therapy services, I’m now in full-time private practice. I’m a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist registered with the UKCP and a Senior Accredited Counsellor with the BACP. I have a clear Enhanced Criminal Record Check from The Disclosure and Barring Service.
I can help with a variety of personal issues and relationship difficulties. I’ve worked with people who don’t yet know what the matter is – or who feel like everything has gone wrong. My particular interest is in people who are facing a change in their identity – perhaps a loss, a transition or a new role in life. I also specialise in workplace issues and the emotional challenges of professional life.
I can be contacted at christian@christianmurphy.com and on 07971 040206.
My psychotherapy practice is based in Brixton, South London, SW2. I offer weekly or twice-weekly in-person sessions. My fee is £75 per session. Some people’s sessions are open-ended, others attend until a particular issue has been resolved. I’m a registered provider with most private medical insurers.
I have a particular interest in workplace issues and offer executive coaching to individuals and groups. I am a director and co-founder of Respia – a management consultancy providing one-to-one executive coaching and facilitated peer-groups for business founders and decision makers.
